BTS, I pierced the Grammy. Candidates for Best Pop Group Performance

The world-renowned group, BTS (BTS), has made another K-pop history by being nominated for the Grammy Awards, the most prestigious pop music awards ceremony in the United States.

BTS was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Grammy Awards announced by the Recording Academy in the United States on the 24th (Western U.S. time).

Although Korean classical and traditional music officials have been nominated or awarded for the Grammy Awards, this is the first time that a Korean pop music official has been nominated.

Dynamite’ is a disco pop released by BTS on August 21. For the first time among Korean pop songs, it topped the U.S. Billboard’s main single chart “Hot 100.” It has been at the top of ‘Hot 100’ for more than 10 weeks.

Previously, BTS was the first Asian singer to perform at the 61st Grammy Awards last year and the 62nd Grammy Awards this year, but it was not a solo stage.

BTS’s “Dinermite” will compete with Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me,” Jay Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tani’s “Un Dia,” Justin Bieber and Quayvo’s “Incension,” Taylor Swift and Bon Eber’s “Exile.”

The ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ category is not one of the four main awards commonly referred to in the Grammy Awards. But it goes to one of the important sectors. BTS is the first Asian singer to be nominated.

Earlier, some foreign media including Billboard and the Associated Press predicted that BTS’s “Dynamite” would be nominated for “Record of the Year,” one of the four main awards.

Along with the Grammy Awards, BTS was nominated and won several times at the “American Music Awards” and “BBMAs,” which are considered one of the top three American pop music awards.

Last month, he won the Billboard Music Awards for four consecutive years and the latest American Music Awards for three consecutive years. If he wins the Grammy Awards, he will achieve the Grand Slam.

The Grammy Awards, which has been hosted since 1959 by the NARAS, a group of music experts that includes artists, lyricists and producers, are recognized for its highest status in the United States. As the U.S. is home to pop music, it is known as a sacred place for the world pop music awards. It will determine the winners of a total of 84 categories.

However, it was the most conservative of the three major music awards in the U.S. Although it is recognized as the most musical authority, it has been criticized as a white and male-oriented awards ceremony. Analysts say that just being nominated for such an award ceremony has confirmed BTS’s potential.

BTS The members and the chairman of Big Hit Entertainment Bang Si-hyuk became a member of the American Academy of Recording Arts hosting the Grammy Awards last year.

After being nominated for the nomination, BTS tweeted, “Thank you all for listening to and sympathizing with our music in a difficult time. Most of all, it’s all ARMY who made the miracle of being a Grammy nominee. Thank you and I love you all the time.”

BTS Leader RM said at a press conference to mark the release of his new album “BE” on the 20th, “I think it will be too good and I wonder what he will do if it doesn’t. We’ll probably stay up and watch until dawn, too,” he said.

In a recent interview with the cover model of Winter 2020/21 in the famous American men’s magazine Esquire, RM said, “I think the Grammy is the Last Sculpture. As if it were the last chapter of the American journey,” he also said.

With all of BTS’s goals, including the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, the stadium tour, and attendance at the Grammy Awards, the Grammy award and solo stage were the only remaining in the U.S. pop music scene.

The Grammy Awards will be held on January 31 next year. Attention is also focusing on whether the solo stage will be achieved as BTS is nominated for the Grammy.

Meanwhile, K-pop star girl group “Black Pink” was expected to be nominated for the Rookie of the Year award at the Grammy Awards, but it did not go up.
