Chen (30, photo), a member of boy group EXO, is one word that defines his third solo mini-album, “It’s Disappearing,” released on the 14th. At an online press conference, Chen said, “There have been many changes for me and I am thinking positively about it. “I want to show myself more now, not the way I used to be,” he said. The album included six songs, including the title track “Getting Gone” and “I Don’t Even Mind,” which Chen wrote.
It is the first album to be released about three years after the release of the second solo mini-album “Dear You,” released in October 2019. In the meantime, Chen became the first EXO member to get married and became the father of two daughters. Chen said, “I’ve changed with three years of experience and emotions. I thought a lot about what it looked like. He said, “I made a resolution to start over based on what I regret and what I liked.” He then said, “I tried to contain thoughts and expressions about separation, love, and happiness in each track.”
The music video for the title track ‘Getting Gone’ is in the form of a drama. Unlike the singer himself appearing in most K-pop music videos recently, only actors Park Hae-soo and Hwang Se-on, who play the two lovers who break up, appear. Chen said, “I was wondering if I should include myself singing, but it was right to express my feelings only with the actors’ acting. I clapped when I saw the edited version. “Every gesture and gaze of the two actors touched my heart,” he said.
He also expressed his ambition not only to focus on ballads but also to expand his appearance to other genres. He said, “I liked ballads since I was young and I still love them very much,” but added, “I want to challenge various genres.” “I will also show you a song with light choreography,” he said.
